He means the song that best defines the sound of Floyd. I think it's Echoes. I don't necessarily think that it's their best song but I think it somewhat shows most of their styles in one soundscape. Savvy?

Agreed, Echoes, because they're always tagged as prog (progressive) rock, well there'sno other song that progresses and finds new ways to sound while still remaining rythmn like, Echoes, but possibly ASOS.

not the best... the most representative...

the best song of pink for me are shine on , comfortabily and careful
but the most representative of pinkfloydsound is echoes

This is hard to say, really, because as someone pointed out earlier, Pink Floyd's sound has changed and evolved from era to era, never quite having the same sound.

So the logical thing to do would be to find the most Pink Floyd-ish song for each era. Here we go (I'll break up the eras like the forum does) :
Early PF: "Astronomy Domine"
After Syd Barret: "Echoes" or "Time"
Waters Domination: "Dogs" or maybe "Comfortably Numb"
Post-Waters: "Poles Apart"
