Speaking of the 'Wish You Were Here' cover - has anyone heard of the stories/myths that back in 1975, upon release, some Floyd fans actually never opened the plastic cover when they purchased the album...preferring instead to obtain cassette tapes of the music??

Um, I thought the story was they cut through the black wrapper just enough to remove the LP and never realized there was any other artwork...?

Errr....let's see, this thread is about different 'Wish You Were Here' covers - I went slightly off-topic regarding the black plastic sleeve that encases the covers...that's what.

I've got that cover (the one with the robotic handshaking on my copy which is now about 10 years old!! So it couldn't have just been made for the 2005 calender!

It's the sticker which was attached to the black cellophane wrapping around the outside cover, actually. But with a slightly different design from the one in parrymason's attachment.

I like the original better for two reasons. I like how the Pink Floyd's name didnt appear on the cover, and that it seemed as if the record was falling apart even if it wasnt. Like on the back, there looks like theres a cut with sand pouring out of it, from the inside of the album. And because, and I quote Garth from Wayne's World:

"*eerie music in background*"
"We.... fear change."

I thought the version with the guy on fire leaning back was released in America, and the version with the guy leaning forward was released in the UK? I know that on my vinyl copy the guy is leaning forward.
