I voted for Yes, but I would have voted for Soft Machine. It might be argued that their work was more progressive jazz as opposed to progressive rock. Their 'Third' album is still a classic.

Yeah, their four first albums were really good, before they turned to 80's prog.

Of the groups mentioned I'd say Yes, but I still say Rush is progressive, depending on how you define that word.
RUSH is better and its alive.

Well you're not alone.
King Crimson defines the structure and format of Prog Rock.

Re: Best of the prog rock greats?

Went with Genesis IMO nothin beats the classic line up of Banks, Collins, Gabriel, Hackett, and Rutherford from '71 to '75 those 4 albums in that era are 5 star albums in my book they r what prog is about

Go here to get the definition [url]http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive-rock.asp ..... The reason Rush isnt on here is because IMO they r not one of the greats good band tho they r labled in the sub genre °Heavy Prog° but really only had a handful of albums u could consider prog. To close the reason Floyd isnt on here everyone would just vote for em since this is a PF fansite.
