| Re: PINK FLOYD'S MUSIC: SOUNDTRACK TO HISTORY (Part 1): Floyd and Warren G Harding?! My hobbies include music, history, and religion. And after listening to Pink Floyd since I was 14 (seventeen years now)and studying a lot in the Bible and American/World history I've noticed some striking coincidences. Here's part one in my little egotistical "series" of examples. (*Note: In no way am I saying these similarities are intentional*)
"Pink Floyd and...Warren G Harding?!"
1. Warren G. Harding, the 29th president of the United States, had one terrible administration, plagued by several scandals which were caused by his cabinet. The stress got to him in the end and BEFORE HE COULD FINISH HIS TERM he suffered a stroke and passed away. Compare this to "Breathe"; "And balanced on the biggest wave, you race towards and early grave."
2. When these scandals were uncovered, one member of Harding's cabinet panicked and, sadly, committed suicide. "Goodbye Cruel World."
3. When Harding was first running for the office of President, his opponent's advisors spread rumors that he had black relatives (it's obvious there's nothing wrong with having black relatives, but back then, well you know, people weren't as open-minded as they are today). Compare this action to the lyrics of the second "In The Flesh." |
