| Covering Dark Side of the Moon After realizing that i had already gotten all the lyrics memorized and seen Aussie Pink Floyd do a show with Dark Side, Ive decided i wanted to cover the entire album on guitar, but im not sure about a few things. I wanted to buy the book, but im finding it hard to get a full, accurate book with what i want - since i can always get its off the internet too. Now first of all, I know what effects Gilmour uses in the album (BOSS CE-2, Tube Driver, Uni-Vibe, TC Delay mostly), but I cant afford to use all the effects he uses. Multieffect pedals that uses 4-5 effects at the same time arnt in my price range, so i need cheaper versions of the pedals, especially the more imprtant noticable ones, like Delay and Dynacord CLS222 - used in Any Colour you Like. Are their any other ways to get that sound of your guitar that Gilmour uses in Breathe and The Great Gig in the Sky? I know he uses a slide guitar, but could you get a similar noise with a metal or glass one? And On the Run will be a hard song to cover. Are those noises Digital or what? I dont even know where to begin thinking. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon You may want to purchase an album called' The Moon Revisited' by a bunch of Canadian bands. It's a fairly accurate (if thin sounding) recreation, obviously done with reverence and not a small amount of love. I'm moving this to the 'Jam Room' thread (which isn't where ladies on the rag go. That's the Moon Lodge)

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon On the Run was created mainly by a sequencer hooked up to a VCS3 synthsizer, but i guess if you figure out the notes in the programmed sequence you could pull it off on guitar with some wah. Good luck! |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon My band does a DSOTM show every new moon (dark). Um we do every song, on the run is tricky and not really correct, but I play the main synth rythym on guitar and put it through phasers and stuff, bass does so weird noises and drummer does the hihats.... Great Gig is cool but took fooorrreeevvvver to figure out, I actually play the vocal solo on guitar and took forever to figure out... good luck |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon You must have some effects so get these just to have a close to darkside sound. Effects: Mxr Phase 90 Line 6 Echo Park (has analog and digital delay Any Analog Wah, preferably Vox Wah, or Original Dunlop Crybaby. As for distiortion, Dunlop Fuzz Face, or Big Muff, or dist. from your amp. And don't worry about the slide, it will sound close enough to a slide guitar. And as for On the Run, can't help you. |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon You could substitute the guitar-based "Travel Sequence" (an embryonic early version of "On the Run") if you're not concerned about boring the pants off of your listeners.

I know you said it wasnt accurate, but how did you find out how to get something from your guitar to sound like On the Run? Mustve had alot of stuff goin on there. Your Great Gig vocal solo on the guitar sounds like a good idea, do you alter your guitar sound in any way to do that? I might consider doing that after i finish perfecting the Money solo. |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon On the DSOTM Classic albums movie, theres one part where Dave is punching in the notes really slowly for the synth part, and I just got them from that and practiced until I could do it really fast. For the Great Gid solo, I used a wah, but not as a "wah" but as an "oh" or "ow". Instead of pressing on my toe for the notes, I rolled it back to give it more of an "oh" sound if you know what I mean.... |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon I wish i couldve caught what Aussie Pink FLoyd were doing when i seen them in concert, but everything was blacked out. I know what your talking about for the Wah sound, i got a Vox right now. Did you get tabs by any chance for that. Im not asking for you to tab the whole solo or On the Run thing, because i usually find things out on my own, but this is a little different. The only other thing ive seen was the Sax solo from Money for guitar, but not Vocals. If i have no luck, ill probably try by myself in a week or two. |

| Re: Covering Dark Side of the Moon While researching into the effects needed and what to get next, i found one good thing and one bad thing. First of all, the amp i plan on getting soon (a 30 watt Marshall) already has Delay, reverb, chorus, and flanger on it...as said in one description i read. But...i found out they stopped making the Leslie Dynacord CLS222 a while ago. What other effects pedals are their that sound or compare to this one? |
