Feeling Inferior

Im feeling like my skill of guitar and singing/lyricist isnt good enough. Im seeing these guitarists who make all this great new psychedelic music like, Revolve, Apex Theory, and so on, there stuff is so like good. mine are just a couple of crappy riffs and melodies made out of harmonic minor and minor pentatonic sclaes. I feel so infereer. Any advice, and please no burns, im really bummed.

Just keep at it.. I go through the same thing from time to time.. I find that when I really start to get down on myself I'll just let the feeling out through the guitar and occasionally I surprize myself with what comes through..

Just relax and enjoy your guitar.. Don't push too hard..

I feel the same way all the time. I write all these lyrics on my computer, and when I go to write the music, nothing original or interesting comes out. I've written a couple riffs/songs that I think are decent, but I just can't write anything phenominal. You just have to let it come out. I'm only 15, If I wrote something that would change rock music, that would be effing incredible and way out of the ordinary. So you just have to take some time to perfect your skills. Maybe broadening your musical taste will help. But don't worry, you're not the only one who feels that way.

I feel inferior too--because I am inferior! This realization does not need to be a bad thing thing though, you should practice music because you enjoy it, not because you want to be as good as you're favorite players.
But, as has been said, with practice you may reach the level of your idols.

It also helps if your idol really sucks.

I feel that way all the time too. Don't worry I think most people go through that. Just keep practicing you may surprise yourself with how good you become.

lol. ya i kinda like nirvana. but ya, im reaching for greats like David Gilmour, Hendrix, Barrett and Morrison. Ya i guess i just have to keep playing.
