There's actually a large quantity of rap I would sooner allow in my stereo than System.

SOAD is pretty ****ing cool, I think, having heard a lot of today's 'popular metal' they're definately unique.

Re: System of a Down underrated

i really like System of a down. i was one of the first who bought their Toxicity album in Slovenia.
and i really like when they play their songs in this club i go (that's quite often).

yes it is called nu-metal the sort of music they make. it's also said Linkin Park and Limp bizkit play nu-metal. i don't see the similarities. i mean SOAD are so much better than LP and LB!!

Re: System of a Down underrated

How the hell can you call Chop Suey unoriginal???

They have this claustrophobic thrashing vibe to them that's kind of scary. That's how I feel when I listen. Scared. Intrigued, but scared.

Re: System of a Down underrated

I was very impressed with toxicity, i think its a very good album. I wasn't very impressed with steal this album though. I certainly wouldn't call them a bad band though.

Re: System of a Down underrated

I think System of a Down is pretty damn good for a new band. I kinda like how it pisses off most of the old people I hang out with. Oh, and I don't know how anyone can call them an MTV band cause I can't remember the last time I actually saw a video on MTV.

Re: System of a Down underrated

The fact that a band gets publicity or airplay in these MTV dominated days doesn't necessarily make it a bad band. I like System of a Dawn. I already knew them before they released "Toxicity" through a song from their first album that was in a CD sampler from a Metal magazine; it was one of my favourite songs in the CD. I don't listen a lot to them and I wouldn't put them in the same league as Tool for example but I enjoy their songs. BTW, "Steal This Album" is pretty dissappointing but it was made from material that was discarded for "Toxicity". That was a "cash-in" operation indeed after the success of "Toxicity" but when they released "Mesmerize" they came back in good shape again.

But, again, I also dig Barbara Streisand so go figure...

Re: System of a Down underrated

I cannot stand their vocalist. And I just don't like metal. All metal sounds the same.
