Logic Puzzle

Today , my math teacher busted out this odd logic question to the class, but nobody could answer it. But the thing that made me mad the most is that he never told us the answer. Im posting it to see if any of you animals can get it. Here it is:

'A man wakes up in the middle of the night, and goes downstairs to get a snack from the fridge. When he is done with the snack , he shuts the lights out, and goes back to bed. The next day, the man wakes up and looks out his window to see a multitude of dead bodies scatted all over his lawn. He was so ashamed of this that he commited suicide.

My teacher then asked us what we thought the scenario was. It seems like it makes no sense , but he said there is a logical explanation for all of this. I still cant figure it out . See if you can
