Well, i have alwase liked this song, since the first time i heard it. The thing is, i looked up the lyrics and the ones i found said ".. and i began to prey" ..... the thing is I hear "... and i pretend to prey"

I hear "began to pray," maybe I'm just impressionable

it can be began, but the thing is, i hear the T in pretend, and also i hear the R, and "Began" doesnt have a T or an R.... so i hear "Pretend" no "Began"

i like the original
however , i heard a good version of it with electric guitar and sax solo , that one is the best , the vocals , everything , and i think it was the beach boys in the 90's
