I think I was clear about what I thought was good and bad rock with my Queen and hammer analogy (if any guests were confused by the following reactions)

I justified the thread by distinguishing good from bad music.

It's just I read a cop out view that musics quality is about perspective and we all know thats not true!

Great point.....loyal fans may endure it...like I do money and Have a cigar.

you could like any genre, be of any age but when Albatross comes on the radio....you've got to sit back and lap it up.

Unless you've got an Alba stereo then everything sounds Albadross!

The new rock music is just terrible and absolutely sucks. I enjoy most old rock bands like The Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin among others. However, bands like Creed and Matchbox Twenty are just awful and I can't even stand to listen to them. The new music, rock or not, just doesn't have the same feeling like the older music.

I must confess that I really don't like the modern "garage band" craze, friends of mine who are die hard rock fans are now die hard strokes and 'the darkness' fans. I mean yeah, the darkness may be "influenced" by Led Zep, or ACDC, but come on...it's not a quarter as good. That, in my opinion is bad rock and I completely agree there is a difference

yeah wait, sorry im confused...are you calleing these bands crap?

and my opinion with good music is this: it has ot be real and intense, it has to convey the artists mood through the lyrics and the music! not like all these crappy synthesized bands, and like a one cord song with a hot front man! i mean common i want music not a a pretty boy who trashed the art of music! if you want to look at a hot guy who would never go out with you go by a poster!don't encorage the fruit by attending his "concerts" or buying his music! cuz he prolly didn't even write the lyrics that you imagine him singing to you anyways. thats why bands like led zeppelin and pinkfloyd will definatley be listened to by my kids (or i am disowning them) and if they even think to put some rap or pop into my c.d player i swear that will be the end of there existence.....(don't wory im 16 with no kids)

well, bad and good rock... if you feel it rocks, and it makes you smile or makes you (naturally) high, it's good rock!
(see, it can be done as naive as this :p)

Yes, when I listen to White Stripes, I see a hope in the future of rock music.

well... i think it's bad of you to say that all new rock is bad.. i mean, atleast someone is trying to keep rock alive. And, you have to look away from the overproduced music. That's where the real problem is, music is become so much image they produce a band because of the image and not the sound.... still, there are real bands out there. I would say the pop industry is the real enemy, not the bands that perhaps fail to make a good rock band... Personally i'm a fan of Kings of Leon, they're a new rockband. Everything today is about marketing and PR... real rockbands know they don't need it, that's why they're not in the spotlight all the time, but, that's where our job comes in... listen to them, give them a chance... it's not easy keeping rock alive, everything has been done before. You know you know it, although it's hard to admit! But, we're the ones that keeps it alive, the fans.

White Stripes... i think they're overrated, hehe... probably because i've read my fair share of NME weekly magazines, all they talk about is White Stripes and a few other bands... in every issue.

I'm 31 and I don't wanna sound older when I say this but......the bad rock is...the new rock. It all sounds the same. Line up: A vocalist, a guitarist, a bassist and a drummer. The songs (all of them): mello intro, heavy chorus, mello verse, repeat heavy chorus, heavy exit. The vocalists all sound the same. That's just my opinion, though.
ya they coppy acdc judas preist and guns n roses but dont sond eny thing like thum

You people ****ing piss me off. You cannot just lump modern music into the category of shite. Maybe if you don't listen to your hip alternative station, and actually go to a record store and ****ing look around, you'll find that there are plenty of great bands. Of course you're not going to find hope in rock if you sit on your ass all day listening to the same radio station. Has the radio ever offered anything brilliant? I mean, really. If you actually put some effort into your search, you'd easily find that all modern music is not shite.

"Good rock is classic rock. Bad rock is new rock!"

Idiots.
