A huge amount of bassists these days

I've noticed from looking around here on this site and in my life away from the computer, that there seems to be an increase in pepole who "play" bass.

I am comparing this to how it used to be dreaded to become the bass player for a band back in the early 60s and stuff.

Do you notice this?

Yeah I've noticed that too.

Indeed.. I think it's because bass has become more prominent in music. I credit people like Flea for making it the "cool" instrument. I think people are realising that there's a lot you can do with a bass, that it doesn't necessarily limit you from being a good musician. Guitar used to be the be all and end all.. not so anymore.

i havnt noticed it, but what i have noticed is a gross shortage of drummers.....

you can play like sh#t and noone will notice
