Thumbs up I Saw The Pink Floyd Experience last night

Last night My wife and I saw the N.Z band "the Pink Floyd Experience" play in Melbourne Australia. They are on tour here at the moment.

They were fantastic!

The concert began with Shine on ..... and then Dark side of the Moon.

After interval they performed a very theatrical 'The Wall', with some great effects. Some of the Sax solos in Darkside of the moon were stunning, as were the guitar solos. I only wish I could play like that.......

I shut my eyes a few times and honestly I thought the old D.G. was there playing in front of me. It had that great live feel and sounded very "PULSE"ish

Steve

The band Beyond the Dark Side" are playing at Crown in Melb next April 2005, I think I'll go check them out as well.

Only a few months away

Re: I Saw The Pink Floyd Experience last night

I've been e-mailing Bjorn for the last couple of months discussing how he accomplishes his ultimate Gilmour sound. And although I have never had the chance to see him and the rest of the band live, Bjorn did send me a cd with a few songs from some of their shows. And from what I can hear (and what he has told me), they are not very "Pulse" Floydish at all. (If I remember, they don't play anything after The Wall.) They are more of a "Classic 70's" Floyd. Aussie Floyd is more of a "Pulse" Floyd. IMO.
But I do agree, if you close your eyes while listening to them, you could easily think that you are actually hearing Floyd live from the 70's!

Herm, they came here to Adelaide too, but I didn't go. Couldn't afford it, being on student budget and all. I'm sure they were good though, they seem to be getting a lot of good reviews.
Anyway.. I might see em when they come around next time

cheers
Lej

Re: I Saw The Pink Floyd Experience last night

I saw "Pink Floyd Experience" in Melbourne in Dec (13th?) 2004 at The Palais. I was blown away by the spectacle, the theatrics and above all the sound! The only thing that I could criticise was that the lead guitarist wasn't able to hold a note for as long as DG can, so he'd be doing whatever he could do give the impression of it lasting longer (if you get my drift - sorry, not being a muso I can't give you the technical terms). Having seen both Pink Floyd and Roger Waters live I can say that these guys did a marvellous job, and I'd go again if they came back to Melbourne. As said by others here, quite often I found myself closing my eyes and thinking that I was listening to the real PF... and many times I got goosebumps too!

You certainly got your $$ worth. For I think $55 or so they played an edited version of ShineOn (1-9) , DSotM in its entirety, a 15min break, then TheWall in its entirety. So over 2 and a half hours!!

Cheers, Dish
