Tribute Bands - Is it selling out to watch a Floyd Tribute Band?

Friends of mine have been trying to get me to go and see various Pink Floyd tribute bands but I just haven't felt inclinced to do so.

That is until now because they have persuaded me to go and see a band called In The Pink, on the Isle of Sheppey, this weekend. My problem is if they are bad then I will probably feel sick and will have to listen to my entire Floyd collection when I get home; but if they are really good I may feel as though I have sold out for enjoying another band playing Floyd stuff.

If you've been to a bad Floyd tribute gig then who were they and how did you feel?

Likewise, if you've been to a good one, who were they, did you feel dirty or was it a good experience?

Cheers
Head Stock

I've never quite seen the point of tribute bands and having seen the real thing four times I don't feel any need to see one but I believe The Australian Pink Floyd Show are probably the best of the current crop.

I don't think it is selling out at all. Especially if you have not had the opportunity to see the band live.

I saw The Machine. They were great, everything they played sounded awesome. I'd recommend going to see a tribute band, I never have had the opportunity to go to a floyd concert, so why not get the next best I can get?

You're not going to have a heart attack by going to see a Floyd tribute band; if they're awesome, then I'm glad that you had a fun evening! If they stink, then you know better to not go see them again, and you can just laugh at them.

Kent??

Head Stock where are you located? Because if it is Kent Ohio, there is a great tribute band in Ohio called Wish You Were Here that plays one of the best tribute shows around. But, there are a lot of Kents out there so I doubt thats where you are.

I've seen a couple of them, but missed the one playing Earl's Court in '94

Tribute Bands are great if the actual band isnt playing near your country/state for the time being. But if its a really gay tribute band, leave, come back when the show is over and sock them, then say " And u call urself a floyd cover band"
