| Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? Something I have wondered about ever since buying the Division Bell (almost a year ago now) was the meaning behind the song "What do you want from me." Lyrically it almost sounds like Gilmour complaining about the demands of fans, but is this what it's about? It seemed that way to me considering that PF essentially dissolved after the division bell and hasn't released a new album since....I sure wish they would though. I'm a fairly new fan of the band...though my father had played DSOTM all while I was growing up. I hated it then but as I've grown older I've come into the PF fold myself and they are one of two major bands that I listen to. It's a shame for me to have "missed the boat" as it were and have no new albums in the future to look forward to. Subject drift...correcting....was that song about fans of the band? |

| Re: Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? Yes.... and other things.... relationships, expectations. A lot of things really, but nothing in any great detail. What I hate most about TDB is its wretched lack of commitment to any level of detail. It's all too hazy and undefined. Don't let that stop you from enjoying it - just my opinion.

| Re: Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? Yes, it's an allegory. But Dave's just retreading old Floyd themes already covered in DSOTM. I often feel in my work that I'm unappreciated and having to jump through hoops endlessly for the people who I depend on for a check. I bet most of you "stoontz" feel likewise when you're loaded down with homework, when you write that brilliant theme paper and get a "D" on it, etc. etc. It's just part of life.

| Re: Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? The one main thing I liked most about the Division Bell was that it didn't sound like they were TRYING to write songs..... AMLOR always sounded forced in its lyrical choices and general overall feel. Maybe it's just me, maybe it was the inclusion of Wright making the others feel more comfortable, but the album seems more at ease. Just my three pennies before lunch.

| Re: Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? The only real detail in TDB is Lost For Words, which is the band trying to patch things up with Roger (the last verse is actuly based on a real life event between Dave and Rog). This is why I think Roger hates it so much compared to AMLOR because it actuly struck a chord of truth with him. The rest of the album is vague but does have strong themes the lack of communication leading to decay (like the relations within the band), in a funny way also comming of age after what was a very forced Gilmour solo album in AMLOR all of the band really feel that tey are working togther well again (especially Rick who had lost a lot of confidence hinted at in Wearing The Inside Out).

| Re: Now I'm curious...What do you want from me? His arse. Obviously. I think WDYWFM? is about fan demands and Roger's demands.
