Re: Are Roger Waters solo works good?

A few of these type of threads have gone around, but I don't mind. If you've heard "The Final Cut" and like it, then yes, you'd like his stuff. Personally, "Amused To Death" is my favorite. It's his latest release.

I did like the Final Cut. It's a chill album that doesn't get enough credit.

Start with Amused to Death. Then, try Radio KAOS, there are a couple of good songs there. Avoid buying Pros & Cons until you've downloaded some of it and given it a listen.

Re: Are Roger Waters solo works good?

There are many threads about Roger's solo work, actually.

Anyway the one and only Waters' album you really need is Amused To Death.

As for the rest of the stuff, I personally wouldn't bother, anyway maybe you should give it a listen before actually buying anything. You are on Internet after all so it would not be a problem.

Well if you like to hear some dull rehashing of it (plus dull rehashing of The Wall) you should consider Pros & Cons.

emphasis on the word "dull" .... P&C has a few brilliant moment, but once again, emphasis on the word "few"

I second/third what everyone else has said, get Amused to Death.

That actually won't do it justice. You do have to at least try to grasp the album as a whole, in CD quality, on headphones. It doesn't work separated into bits or as compressed audio. It's really cheap to buy, and even if you're not going to listen to it you can still look at the cover art!

Re: Are Roger Waters solo works good?

Pros and Cons is a great record ( and concert )
Kaos is brilliant on so many levels ( dont even get me started on this concert... Clare Torry sang "Great Gig in the Sky" for the encore !! and it fit perfectly with the albums theme... )
Amused to Death is a masterpiece....but they are all a bit gloom and doomy so beware....

Just stay away from Radio KWAG-mire and you'll be glad you did.

Re: Are Roger Waters solo works good?

My first Waters solo album was Radio KAOS and I love it, last year I finally got pros and cons and didn't think much of it. I downloaded a Radio KAOS concert in Dec and that was fabulous, Just got In the Flesh and Flickering Flame (ACK@ Knocking on heavens door) In the Flesh was good though.
