| les pauls? Hi, i dont know if this topic has been mentioned yet but I was wondering, whats the difference between a strat, telecastor, and les pauls? If I am a mostly rythm guitarist, which would be best for me? I right now play an accoustic and am looking for my first electric. thanks for all your help.  |

| Re: les pauls? I'm not a heavy guitar player, but I would say go with a Telecaster if you're a rhythm guitarist. I see more Stratocasters and Les Pauls doing a solo rather than a Tele. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

One of the best threads on it is this one... http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/showthre...+Le s%2A+Paul You can play lead or rythym on any guitar, much is in the touch of the player, not the instrument. There have been plentty of screaming leads played on a telecaster. Just look up Albert "Iceman" Collins... Hope this helps.. Even though this is a duplicate thread, I'll leave it open for now.

| Re: les pauls? Fulghy is right, of course. I'd pick a Les Paul for mostly-rhythm work. But that's just me.

| Re: les pauls? It all depends on the style of music. Generally a Les Paul is a good hard rocker, and the strats are known for a more versatile lead tone. It's all a question of taste. I normally play a Les Paul, but for floyd, it's gotta be a strat. The telecaster has a very twangy, almost country-ish sound to it. For versatility, I'd say go with the Strat, or the Les Paul, depending which neck you prefer. |
