| OBC is absolutely amazing. It has barely left my CD player since I got it home. I just played it for the 6th time since yesterday and love it. The synth, the bass work on this album is incredible. And there's not really a single weak track on the album, with the exception of the end of "Absolutely Curtains" but, most of that song too is great. Amazing. Childhood's end is like a dry run for Time, and Stay is great with Rick on vocals. Why didn't Rick ever sing on the later albums? He has a wonderful Floydian voice! The title track is powerful, burning bridges beautiful, Free Four entertaining despite the cynical lyrics. Certainly one of the best Floyd albums. Dare I say, almost as good as DSOTM. I was disappointed in TFC though. About 4 songs on that one that I like but I only play it now for Not Now John. The rest of the album....meh, a few good points. Not many. | OBC is wonderful. It ranks higher than Dark Side on my personal Floyd album rankings(its in my top 4). I love the whole album. I don't have The Final Cut yet. Last edited by BreatheACigar; 12-15-2004 at 08:46 AM. |

Mudmen is great too, and yeah Childhoods End is very much like time. The only track i dont like its Free Four. Lyrics on it are too pessimistic in a cheerful tone, i dont like it.

I used to think it was great. Listen to it a few too many times and you'll hate it too.

Hmmm...I've been taking somewhat of a break from the Floyd the last month or so, listening to them a couple times since then. Today I felt compelled to give OBC a listen...I have no idea why. At first, I wasn't very impressed by OBC. It didn't seem very remarkable or unique, but it's grown on me considerably since then. I think it's really great when you want some Floyd, but you don't want something too intense. It may not be extremely innovative or anything, but is still highly enjoyable.

Oh, and you need to give TFC a chance. It's obviously very different from their early 70s work (like OBC), but good in its own respect. Don't worry about breaking it in now, just enjoy OBC. I find trying to break in several new albums at the same time (especially when it's Floyd) can lead to unwanted side effects...
