| Gilmour Sound Hey, was just curious, whats more important to achieve a good gilmour/floyd sound, Delay or Compression(sustain)? I'm thinking like from the Animals/Wall era. Most of his style comes from his fingers as is well know, but was just wondering what would be another good way to achieve that sound? Thanks for the comments |

| Re: Gilmour Sound it cannot be achieved with just one effect.. out of those I would definately say delay.. as it is Davids favourite.. But also Flange, and a Muff.. Cheers, Adrian

| Re: Gilmour Sound i think the expressions in the scales he uses is most important too. a good mixture of the pentatonics and dorians |

| Re: Gilmour Sound Now, they are not. I was just listing up things from my memory in random order. But the real sound is in his fingers, actually.

| Re: Gilmour Sound I have a J.S. (Joe Satriani) series Ibanez and a good Dean Markley amp and I can play most pink floyd songs and get the same guitar sound as in the songs by just using Gilmours fingering style and certain setting on the amp. IMHO that's all thats really NEEDed (as listed above) but there are many WANTs for perfection of Gilmours sound e.g. Delay, etc.
