I think Summer of 68 is better.

I really like both, but I'm going to go with patgod. Really close though.

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is a Floydian record which never gets much of a mention, but it's brill. There are a few duff moments (namely Pow R. Toc H., Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk & Chapter 24), but there's enough gorgeous, acid imbued charm to make it a truly notable record in Floyd's history (unlike, say, A Saucerful Of Secrets).

Atom Heart Mother is another vastly underrated/understated record in PF's repetoire (even the band have virtually disowned the thing). The second half of the album may vary from spectacular to averagely dull, but the title track is one of Floyd's best experiments.

I like Piper, a lot, but it needs to be remixed or spruced up somehow 'cuz I can't listen to it on headphones. Atom Heart Mother is really a headphone record and should be judged as such. But Piper has better songs.

Scarecrow, Bike, Astronomy Domine, Interstellar Overdive, Flaming - all classic

Mmm, yes, the sound is particularly harsh on headphones. Something to do with the bass making a buzzing like an agitated bee.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn rocks more than Atom Heart Mother, but still, The Wall is the best Floyd album.

It is strange but I never thought that much of the song until I heard it live from a BBC in concert performance, it is definitely much improved live, AHM is let down by the Loathsome Alan's Psychedelic breakfast in my opinion, I can understand the concept of the piece but failed on all levels..

However. I probably would pick Piper as my favourite as it is more consistant throughout. However AHM the track would get my vote for individual piece of music.

When Gilmour said "God, it's shit. It sounds like we didn't have an idea between us." i think the question was probably "What the hell is up with Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast?".

That track aside I prefer AHM.
