Which is worse, AMLoR or Ummagumma (studio)? Personally, I consider these two to be the worst albums found in the Floyd catalouge. Generally, I think they are considered that way too. Remember, this doesn't include the live disc that comes with Ummagumma. I'm not sure what to pick myself...AMLoR is pretty terrible, though "Sorrow" is quite awesome. But also in the same respect, it has "Dogs Of War", which is quite possibly the worst Floyd song. Ummagumma is just sour..."Granchester Meadows" is nice, but...that's about it. I didn't include TFC, despite it often being wrongly accussed of being bad. Edit: Well shoot, looks like I forgot to post the poll, and it looks like I can't edit it in either. Oh well...

AMLoR. Ummagumma is a avangarde rock manifest!

Even though Ummagumma studio isn't too good, the band went downhill when Roger left. Ummagumma was in those "experimental years". Anyways, I think AMLOR is the worst of the two and the worst out of all the albums.

Well, this one is difficult. I think AMLOR is underrated, really. and I feel the exact same about Ummagumma. So how about a direct comparison. Ummagumma Studio: Sysyphus Pt. 1 = bad Sysyphus Pt. 2 = bad Sysyphus Pt. 3 = bad Sysyphus Pt. 4 = bad Grantchester Meadows = Good! Several Species = Good! The Narrow Way Pt. 1 = Excellent! The Narrow Way Pt. 2 = Great The Narrow Way Pt. 3 = Great! The Grand Vizier's Party Pt. 1 = bad The Grand Vizier's Party Pt. 2 = bad The Grand Vizier's Party Pt. 3 = bad So the final result good/bad is 5/12 or 41.6% good. Now, A Momentary Lapse of Reason: Signs of Life= good! Learning to Fly = good! The Dogs of War = Bad One Slip = good! On The Turning Away = bad Yet Another Movie/Round and Around = Awesome!!!! A New Machine pt. 1 = bad Terminal Frost = good! A New Machine pt. 2 = bad Sorrow = good! So that's 6/10 for AMLOR or 60% good. Therefore: Ummagumma is worse!

lol Dark Blue I've never seen someone do a ratio/percentage method of seeing which one is better, but I have to say that I like the way you did that!

I'd say AMLoR is worse, because at least Ummagumma was an attempt at being creative. Momentary is just boring lame 80s pop, very forgetable. Several Small..... and the live stuff on Ummagumma is at least a bit interesting and innovative.

AMLOR is worse, too gloomy for me. As for Ummagumma its a world of its own. So AMLOR is worse.

EDIT: Gumma is better, just for the sheer awesomeness of Narrow Way. AMLOR works well because it has more of an LP feel, but Old Floyd ALWAYS beats Dave Floyd, no matter what the competition is. ALWAYS. Last edited by Lumiere; 12-20-2004 at 05:47 PM. |
