Re: A 15 year olds view. Might stun people.

Thank you Botley. Some of you guys aren't getting my point. I'm not saying these are the meanings of the songs! I am saying that if you look at some of the songs and albums you can take parts of it and turn it into a bigger picture. It may not be a direct thing you just pick up, but if you look hard enough and think about some of the things said you can pull different meanings out of it. I thought about this for a few days after heavily looking into the songs and such. I found it interesting/weird. And Lifeson, I wouldn't be calling me stupid names and such, when you obviously haven't contributed anything to this post except fighting. Thank you.

Hey PinkFloydian1.

That was definately a great read, and very interesting.

I might disagree with you a little, but thats to be expected... After all, that was your interpretation of what you got out of it.

I too, am 15 and I've been doing a lot of analysing of Pink Floyd songs... And a lot of researching. I am fascinated by what I have discovered and learned. I knida lost the meaning of the songs in the end, probably because I read too much into it. So I was careful not to over analyse.

Thats great work, Pinkfloyidan1. I really enjoyed reading it

Re: A 15 year olds view. Might stun people.

Instrumental isn't meaningless. Just because it has no lyrics doesn't mean anything. How do you know when Floyd was making this song they didn't have a idea in their heads about it. They just made some piece of music? Most def. not. They had something behind it that just wasn't brought out in lyrics. If you read my analasys of Dark Side you can see it could make sense. And as mentioned before, is CwtAE not meaningfull?

Glass Onion (The Beatles) has no meaning. It's probably a bad idea to make grand sweeping statements.

Actually, Gerald. Do you honestly think the beatles just randomly made that music? It isnt possible because when you make something one puts thought into the music. Mabye to you Glass Onion has no meaning but to one of the Beatles it has a major meaning. So don't make any "grand sweeping statements."

Re: A 15 year olds view. Might stun people.

Well, often times instrumentals don't really have a theme or message to them; they are more intended to express a feeling. Take for example "Marooned"...it very effectively portrays the emotion associated with loneliness and dispair. "ITABOT?" does a similar thing.

So, are you saying that we teenagers can't have our own opinions about the music? Just because you don't disagree with somebody else's opinions doesn't make their opinions wrong.

I didn't say instrumentals don't mean anything. It means what you feel but there's no definite explanation or official meaning of instrumentals, which I thought he was saying.

I misinterpreted his feelings as theories to what the songs actually meant.

Actually, it IS about death. The fact that it's not expressed by words but just music is irrelevant.

-talking about Great Gig in the Sky
actually doesnt the singer say "if you can hear this you are dying"? or something to that nature. you have to listen VERY carefully cause it's whispered but it's kinda very creepy.
