Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? I totally agree with Deranged. Roger Waters is more of an artist and had more ideas even though he is a worse player than Gilmour. The combination of the two was simply GREAT.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? Every album created by the band pink floyd is ofcourse floyd like. everyone knows they were one of a kind musicians who experimented with every little bit of music detail. every album must of been suprising compared to the last one since they had no limit on the style which they play. you just know that pink floyd is playing, even tfc and tdb

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? I think TFC. I think its a good album, but its lacking musical superiorority compared to TDB (which to me is a big part of PF)

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? I'm not too crazy about either one. I prefer TFC but I don't know if you can really say one is more Floyd-like. Imagine playing Bike, Several Small Species, TFC and Division Bell for someone and telling them it's all the same band.

Umm... Roger is definitely Not the better musician. Fair to say he's a brilliant lyricist, granted. But one Roger Waters does not a Pink Floyd make. No... No... Kinda comparing apples to oranges here, aren't we? Let's see... Early Metallica with Dave Mustaine... Now, Metallica with Kirk... which is better? Or pick any incarnation of King Crimson... which is better? Van Halen with David Lee Roth, or Van Hagar... Blah Blah Blah B'BLah Blah... I think Frank Zappa (as the Central Scrutinizer on Joe's Garage, Acts II and III) summed it up best during the diatribe preceding A Watermelon in Easter Hay... Ultimately, who gives a **** anyway? I gotta go with Stratman on this one. Both albums are Great for reasons of individual merit. In fact, All the albums bearing the Pink Floyd moniker are Great for reasons of individual merit. Every single one of the Pink Floyd albums contain instances of sheer musical and lyrical genious. And every single one exhibit material that just falls short of the mark. The legacy of that genious is imprinted with the contributions of Syd Barret. And David Gilmour. Not to mention, Roger Waters. And don't forget Richard Wright. Or Nick Mason. I can agree with the point that the sound of Pink Floyd isn't the same without Roger Waters. But really now, isn't that just a simplistic statement of the obvious? Can't the same be said of Syd Barret? Of course it can. So what. Go take your meds now. Regretably, this thread has become too polarized to reach a meaningful concensus. I think a crystalectomy is in order. Don't be alarmed, it's a painless procedure and the benefits are just too great to overlook. It's a simple surgical procedure whereby a 5 inch by 5 inch section of the abdomen is cut out, replaced with a plexiglass window, thus enabling the recipient the ability to see where they be going when they have their head firmly entrenched up their ass. Myself, I'm going to go play the best Pink Floyd album ever released, entitled: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn with A Saucer Full of Secrets, such as UmmaGumma and More, honoring Atom Heart Mother and her Meddle-some Relics, which are Obscured by Clouds orbiting the Dark Side of the Moon with a billboard claiming Wish You Were Here, but you filthy Animals standing at The Wall won't make the Final Cut, due to a Momentary Lapse of Reason while ringing the Division Bell. Who's with me? |

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? After listening to both of them alot more often, lately. I would say, they are both Floydian enough. I also agree completely on what Cosmo said. Last edited by Wiggy; 03-21-2006 at 03:41 AM.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? Id say TFC. I would take Gilmour over Waters any day of the week. But Im one of those fans who pretty much likes everything done by Pink Floyd.. Starting from the first album all the way TDB. But yea, TFC is less Floyd, than TDB to me.
