It died, but kept twitching for an inordinately long period of time

I was going to put my two cents worth on here but I think Doc summed it all up. It is ancient history.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

TDB sounds like U2 meets AOR meets Bruce Springsteen in a crack lounge.

TFC sounds like a Waters solo record.

TDB sounds less Floyd like.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

I saw Roger say in a Dutch interview that One Of The Few was the only leftover song that was put on TFC.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

That makes sense, but there were also various lines from the original (demo) versions of songs from The Wall that were cut and recycled in TFC.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

I think The Final Cut would be "more respected" (I don't know how else to put it) by Floyd fans if the band -with Waters- had gone on to do more albums... full band albums. But instead, the "true"(?) Floyd ended on somewhat of a whimper.

It is, however, my favorite Floyd album. It is one of my favorite albums of all time. Even if it had been a Rog solo album, I still would like more than any other Floyd album. Mind you, I still love the band, but this album put me in a place that no album ever had.

I know exactly what you mean man, i always find it hard to name an exact favorite Floydalbum. But it has to be DSOTM, Animals, or TFC.

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

Animals blew mind my (in a good-non drugged way) when I first heard it a a young lad of 14 back in 78/79. The Wall took me somewhere weird (not complaining), and The Final Cut took my breath away and left me devistated...

Whew!

Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB?

Honestly I haven't listened to it in awhile. I think I will this evening. I think Rog went for the correct choice in using TFC instead of Pros as a Floyd LP. Pros seemed kind of "secondary". It truely seemed like a solo album. It was just that extra little step farther away from Floyd that took the Pink out of it.

I'll give it a good re-listen tonight and think it over again.
