| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? the DB has a hint of life to it, TFC sounds like waters is dying (besides not now john). Further more, TDB has gilmour playing some cool guitar like in high hopes. However both albums suck. Especially TFC becase waters was a selfish bastard. |

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? I'm not going to win any popularity contests here but I don't think either of them are particularly floyd-like - TFC is the third Waters solo album (after Animals and The Wall) and TDB, like AMLOR, is simply the embarrassing sound of a bunch of cash-fixated old duffers going through their respective midlife crises. It sounds to me that with both Signs of Life and Keep Talking Dave simply thought 'It sounds a bit like Shine On - should sell...' IMHO Pink Floyd haven't really sounded like Pink Floyd on an entire album since DSOTM. To paraphrase Dave Gilmour on Classic Albums the bands goal was to be successful and make a lot of money and I believe the subsequent albums suffered as a result. WYWH has two genuinely great songs on (Shine On and the title track) but I feel that HAC and WTTM were the beginning of Waters' domination of the band. Finally, I'd like to say that subsequent albums aren't without merit (Animals is fantastic, but more a Waters solo album) but for me the joy of Pink Floyd's music seem to be confined to the first eight albums. |

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? You'd be surprised how many people would agree with you for the most part, as would I, going as far as The Wall before disregarding anything labelled "Pink Floyd" thereafter. I cannot honestly answer the topic question because I am as unfamiliar with TDB as I am now of TFC, having not listened to the latter for decades. I'd happily agree - fencepost squarely rooted - that neither are Floyd-like. p.s. I am also one of the very few who enjoy Pros and Cons... ...but seeing it Live has always spurred my attraction to it more than anything else.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? That must have been awesome. I sorely regret being born about a year too late for that.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? It was the first time I'd seen Clapton Live - the only time, actually - as well, a Rock legend and no mistake, but it was Roger's show and he made it very clear indeed to Eric during the show. It was awesome and if Stanley Rogerson is anywhere out there - if still living - he should be remembering it as fondly as well. Stanley was a Geordie mate who had only just discovered PF and who had somehow magicked-up the two tickets we used. It was a treat to see him zoning out on the son et lumier. And to get us back on topic, P&C had snatches of both The Wall and TFC running through it, but like TFC, it was definitely a Waters creation. All Waters on TFC except for the brilliant withering guitar of El Gilmour on Not Now John.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? Though I wouldn't call either my favorite, TDB at least has a few songs that I like. The thing is that TFC was mostly Roger, and TDB is mostly Dave, Pink Floyd as a whole isnt well represented.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? The only songs from the Final Cut that I've heard are on Echoes, and I really liked the Division Bell. Roger Waters or no, it's still Pink Floyd, Roger just wrote the best lyrics.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? TFC has, I think, better lyrics and the music blends together better then TDB, but it mainly was a Roger solo album. TDB has its moments, but some songs are jsut missing the blend, and a guitar solo is no way to get a song from 3 to 6 min.

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? The Division Bell... In my opinion, none of the songs resemble the Pink Floyd sound at all. The Final Cut comes pretty close, though! -- MOM |

| Re: What is Less Floyd-like, TFC or TDB? although i like The Final Cut alot (it surprised me how much i liked it,although Your Possible Pasts is pretty hard to listen to),i think its less of a Floyd album than The Division Bell, which feels like a neo-Dark Side. but The Final Cut does get shadowed by The Wall (which i personally dont like as much as other Floyd albums.it just isnt one of my more favourite),it kinda seems like a the younger brother of the two (if that makes sense).like its a less developed sound, but i would still listen to The Final Cut before i'd listen to The Wall
