Re: Favorite/Least Favorite Films?

Hang on, The Simpsons may indeed represent a dysfunctional family but it's animation, a cartoon. Not comparing like for like, really.

And far from being bad, if anything, it's the best, most concise cultural offering from the United States since, I don't know, Gone With The Wind if that. IMHO of course.

Moreover, unlike most other animation, The Simpsons have NEVER done a "...THE MOVIE!" which in my book stands for a lot. And some freak recently claimed it was the most moral family [in entertainment] and an ideal example for those of us who are guided by religion.

I thought The Wall was a passably good "band" flick about as interesting as Help! Of course, the music was much more appealing in both cases.

I guess you could tell I like The Simpsons.

Re: Favorite/Least Favorite Films?

Bride of a Bull, I hope you didn't think I was badmouthing "The Simpsons." In fact, it's one of my 5 favorite shows (say, that gives me an idea for a post...anyway). I'm just saying that I think "American Beauty" is a dramatic, long "Simpsons" episode. And just because "The Simpsons" is animated, doesn't make it less dignified. You see, to me, there are 4 different types of animation: 1) Cartoons--Bugs Bunny, Sylvester and Tweety, etc. 2) Animated Sitcoms/Dramas--"King of the Hill," "The Simpsons," I can't think of any dramas, but you catch my drift. 3) Stop-Making-Sense animation--Japanese anime, etc. 4) Trash--South Park, etc.

Re: Favorite/Least Favorite Films?

My Favourite Movie Would be "VERTIGO",
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

2nd place would be anything from a very long list of movies made by the Marx brothers. (They made comedies, If you didn't know).

I also like Felini.

And BTW, I also Happen to like the Star wars Trilogy.
And of Course, My Favourite Western,
"The Good, the bad and the Ugly".

Satisfied?
