Guitar World magazine 25th anniversary readers poll.

I just picked up the Guitar World 25th Anniversary issue.. There is a pretty cool readers poll included.. with a few highlights that may be appreciated here..

They only listed the top 5 in each catagory..

But....

Greatest Classic Rock Guitarist..
1) Jimi Hendrix
2) Jimmy Page
3) Tony Iommi
4) David Gilmour
5) Keith Richards

Greatest Classic Rock Album
1) Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
2) Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
3) Black Sabbath - Paranoid
4) Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
5) Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Solo
1) Stairway to Heaven - Jimmy Page
2) VooDoo Chile (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix
3) Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour
4) Hotel California - Joe Walsh & Don Felder
5) Free Bird - Allen Collins & Gary Rossington

It's nice to see the boys getting a little respect

Yes, it is nice...even though Pink Floyd and Gilmour is much more skilled than Led Zeppelin and Page...

guitar world always has the best lists.

Their 100 best guitar albums list was phenomenal.

I need to pick up that issue

Well all I can say is at least it's better than the Rolling Stone list (but then again, so is everything).

Meh.

Clapton is indeed one of the best still playing, but I've never seen or heard him do anything that sent chills down my spine and/or tears down my cheeks (like Gilmour, Hendrix, or Page).
