Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

I think it's a good possibility(spelling?) that floyd will tour in 2003. This past summer this website said that there was a new compilation album out. Then another news story said that Gilmour denied it. And what do you know,.......Echoes came out!

My way of comparison: Gilmour will lie at all costs to keep publicity down, but they end up being true.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Wishful thinking, and I wish it were so, but I doubt this will happen. Of course, we'll find out soon enough. As a local concert promoter told me, something the magnitude of a Pink Floyd tour, if it's anything like the last one, is a huge production and takes many, many months to put together. So, if they're gonna tour in 2003, he'd know by next year. (This was told to me recently by a concert promoter responsible for most of the eastern US.) It's not something they'd be able to keep quiet.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Why do a tour? I have never seen them live, and I would really love to see them. But why don't they do a series of concerts at a venue they prefer. They are old and this makes it easier for them, and I now that a lot of fans would come from far just to see them.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

That would be cool, but maybe they feel they would owe the fans a tour.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Glimour DID say after the Division Bell tour "that was definitely not our last album". I know they've never waited this long between drinks, but I always had the impression that they would want to do some sort of finale.

Would make sense wouldn't it?

Maybe Roger will join them.

Now I'm being REALLY wishful!!!

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Yeah, I wish the Floyd would go on tour just once more, or even Roger coming to the states again this year would be nice. Funny coincidence--I missed the Division Bell tour due to a vacation (my mother sent us to our grandfather's house for a month) and last year's In the Flesh tour occurred while I was moving across the country, so I've been consistently screwed out of seeing my favorite band(s?) in concert. A new album would be nice, too, and I hope that Rick and Nick can convince Dave to make one last go at it, as I've heard they're both interested in another Floyd piece. But whatever. I can only hope that one of these days I'll get to see at least one of the Floyds live...

Oh well, c'est la vie...

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

I guess most of you guys seems to forgot a couple of things...

57 is kinda old, but look at the Rolling Stones, they're not as great but they're sure as old (even older and barely alive R.T. Keith Richards).

(My grand-father used to play 2 hours of Tennis a day when he was 70) It's not about age it's all about Shape.

Another point is that David Gilmour is touring right now around the world... So this is not silly to think that a Pink Floyd concert could be up in 2K3.

One concert in every major city would be a 50 dates tops tour. They might be all 60 by then but if none of them die Ii would be doable.

However now it's just about rumors do they realesed Echoes to buy a beach house and would they put on a tour to pay the taxes... this is another question.

And I don't have the answer to that question.

Yawgmoth is always glad to bring his wisdom to a group...

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

I say let the Floyd get on with their lives. If you ask me, I think David is going about it the right way. Ending it on a positive note. The 1994 tour was a massive sucess and great triumph for the boys. Why reck it. I personally think that the younger generation of today would not respect a new Floyd album as much as they did in '94. In 1994, Page and Plant (1/2 of Zeppelin), The Eagles, Tom Petty all tour and release albums. This is quite sad but it is very true

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

i think we all need to have a positive attitude towards this and keep hoping. i am only 15 and there is no band around today that i would like to see live more than pink floyd. as a matter of fact, there arent many bands that still tour that i would want to see, just check my signature, i dont buy into all the new rap rock crap bands, especially all those blink 182 clones, how many times can one band be repackadged and sold under another name? classic rock has and will prevail.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Mick was born July 1943, Roger - Sept 1944.
So Mick is kinda a bit older.
Ain't me right ?

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Big PFfanNet welcome to Yawgmoth and cringelighting!

Yawgmoth,

David himself said ( http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/forums/v...um=14&start=15 ) he wasn't touring this year but in fact doing only 5 dates this year: 3 in London and 2 in Paris

And David has donated the proceeds from the sale of his London home to charity ( http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/news/news.php ) so he obviously doesn't need the money from Echoes for yet another house.

cringelighting:

Your question has already been answered in the PF Trivia forum under the GENERAL heading. ( http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/forums/v...14&start=15&29 )
