Now though there's just no point as the Floyd content is virtually zero

Floyd content 0. Why, mr. Gilmour? Is it because you are too fat.

You are deluding yourself. PF reunion was ALL about music. GREAT music. You can like it or not but this is irrelevant. Oh, and a bit about pride, obviously. No matter the BS Roger says. And if Waters stopped after ATD it's simply because he had nothing new to offer. Money is not a problem, not for Waters, not for the others.

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Oh, just another thing. A tour (and a live album - and a compilation) without new material (please don't tell me there's *one* new song - after 10 years) it's what you should call "for money". The kind of tour a certain bassist is doing now. Pink Floyd refused to do a greatest hits tour in 1987 and produced with their money their new album. I don't want to say Roger is touring for money (I already stated that those guys have LOTS of money), but that's what one could think after all...

Pardon me , I don't mean to be rude , but what the hell are you talking about? I was saying that the topics usually discussed in the "official" Pink Floyd forum have very little to do with the band , I don't see what this has to do with David Gilmour as he quite obviously has no input or control over this , I doubt he's even aware it exists , it's owned and run by EMI , not Pink Floyd.
Also Dave is in his late 50's , I think he's entitled to a little "middle-age spread" , don't you ? Maybe you think after 30+ years he still owes you something , maybe you better think again!!

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Gilmour owes ME one decent pink floyd album.
Waters aint fat! He's 58. His new tour is probably to try to re-connect after all these years. I'm not going. If he called it Pink Floyd would it be ok with you? Gilmours' wife is speaking for Pink Floyd on their latest. Right on! That's justice. She picks up the mantle right where Waters left off. Yeah, that's the floyd I know and love. When Dave dies Nick Masons' wife can take over. Waters is an evil, horrible, egomaniac isn't he? What right does he have to want Pink Floyd to retire? It's not like any of you were going to support Dave Gilmour solo 15 years ago. He needed the brand name or else he could not have done all those wonderful stadium shows. I have seen the light. Waters is totally overrated and Gilmours' wife is twice the lyricist he was. So what if the pig flys out and the song they're playing is not even from ANIMALS? That's show biz! That's hollywood. That's what the pink floyd is all about. I think Gilmour is sexy with all those extra layers of flubber. He is a rock god and his wife puts the lyrics on 'darkside' and 'wish you were' here to shame.

Question: Who was the song MURDER addressed to?

PEACE ,BROTHERS AND SISTERS...BUT FIRST JUSTICE!

Waters used the pig during the Wall shows. Yet, none of those songs were from Animals, were they? And the pig had nothing to do with The Wall's storyline, either.
I guess that's Waters contributing to the need of a recognizable icon, just like Gilmour and Co. did during the newer PF tours. And while Waters was still in the band! That's sacrilige, eh?
Gilmour, Waters, Wright, or Mason don't 'owe you' anything. Not even a 'decent' Floyd album, or a completely original tour, or a new song, or anything.

You're bloody well right. They don't owe me a damn thing. Are you mad or something? ( I've been mad for ****ing years) The pig was used at the wall show?? During what song? At least it was his invention. I've heard it said that Mason was the only one that agreed with Waters about the pig when it was first brought up for the ANIMALS tour. Nothing is sacrilege in Show biz. Except for not making money.
Anyway, Pink Floyd don't need no stinkin' Waters.

I was at Earls Court in '80 and '81 and the pig did indeed appear both times , I can't remember during which song though. There are pictures of it (complete with nice marching hammer decals on the sides!!!) if you can be arsed to look around the net.

You're right, Thorin.

It came out before Run Like Hell. There is a picture of it in one of the booklets that came with ITAOT.

Wow

Man. I hate being 15. I never got to see a Floyd Show. Damnit!!! Anyways. Seeing Floyd live would be totally awesome , seeing them with Waters would freakin great. And I would like to see Gilmour by himself.. but since chances are I am never going to see them. I would settle for just seeing all their instruments. You know ..... Dave's Guitar , Roger's Bass, Nick's Drum Set , and Richie's Keyboard...

Some questions to think about...

1. What would have happend if Waters would have never left
2. What if one of the band members came on these forums and saw what we are saying.. Would they respond?
3. Will Dave ever auction off his guitars?

Re: Pink Floyd tour 2003

Ooooh, to be able to play Mr. Wright's keyboards! Especially with a guided tour by the man himself, so I knew what instrument was what!

<--Stop dreaming, FW.

Anyway, I'd say #3 isn't entirely impossible, judging from one recent chat transcript...no guarantees, of course.
