Angry Doyle Bramhall II

Amazing guitarist, I can think of no one better to play Gilmour's parts, but...

TERRIBLE vocalist. He ruins many Floyd songs on 'ITF.' The only one I can stand him on is 'Money.' I shudder to think of him doing 'Comfortably Numb'...

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

His voice is a bit nasal and of a higher timbre than Dave's, but I wouldn't call him "terrible". But that's just me. Diff' strokes.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I guess so...I just think he was far too overdramatic and too much wavering on 'Comfortably Numb' for instance...

I'm going to see Eric Clapton at his Crossroads Festival in Dallas this June. DBII is going to be there.

As long as he doesn't open his mouth, should be a great show

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

he's good guitarist, but snowy white is better both as a guitarist as a singer, he played with roger here in portugal (in the flesh? tour). I did saw the concert and Snowy didn't throw his credits away.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I didn't know Snowy White sang...He seemed competent on 'ITF' but not as imaginative (or maybe he just wasn't showing off) as Doyle Bramhall...

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I've got a Snowy White album, and he is not a great singer. Bramhall has a much better voice.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

As far as their playing abilities, they have different styles, and I'm a big fan of both. I couldn't pick one over the other as "better".

Maybe Snowy would get the nod from me only because he has many more years playing.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I don't understand why Jon Carin wasn't given those vocal parts on 'In the Flesh.' Hell, Waters probably would have done a better job on the Dark Side tracks than Doyle...

Yes, indeed, i don't know if Roger was trying to give those tracks a new breath with Doyle. If he was, well, in part, he did.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I agree that Doyle doenst have that great of a voice, but its not as bad as you are making it seem. He is a great guitarist and can play good, leftie, but snowy is much much better with his Gibson 57 Goldtop Revised....great guitar...i am jealous
