Beatles "Because"

Hey everyone. I've been trying to figure this one out. I know the Beatles' voices well when they're singing one at a time, but to put 3 of them together at the same time it gets a little trickier, like in the song "Because" from Abbey Road.

Although I read somewhere this song's vocals were overdubbed a couple of times, I hear only 3 distinct parts. Can anyone tell me which of the low, middle and high parts are John, George, and Paul?

The only one I'm fairly certain about is Paul on the high end, but I could be wrong.

Any thoughts?

It's John on the high end, George on the low side and Paul in the middle.

Interesting. Is this guesswork or did you read this somewhere?

About twenty or so years ago Apple published a book of the Beatles studio notes and recording manifests..

My Mom bought it for me for a birthday as I recall... anyway,, that's what it says..

It's nine-part harmony, actually: three Beatles singing all different notes on three separate overdubs. And though I hear Fulghum's division on at least one of the three passes (probably the first and simplest one, recorded 1 August), you can pretty clearly hear Paul right at the top singing "bluuu-uu-uu-uu-uu-uuuue". There's an absolutely gorgeous a cappella remix of this song on the last of the Anthology CDs which makes it easier to pick apart.

Yeah, I'd heard about the "nine-part" harmony. That's why I mentioned that I'd heard it was overdubbed a few times. I also noticed the blatant "bluuuuue" from Paul up high.

However, I really don't hear 9 separate notes. A true 9 part harmony is not something terribly feasible (unless of course some parts are simply doubled parts in a different octave).

Yeah, there's quite a lot of octave-doubling...
