Scratch On Dave's Pick

I was watching the DSotM DVD, and I noticed that there is a weird scratch on Dave's pick. It doesnt look like it got there from strumming, does anyone know how that scratch got there? Thanks.

If the ****ing cam is aimed at the body/pickups you can of course see the tip of the pick sometimes.
