Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

{For more info on the Pink Floyd Publius Enigma, go to http://megapinkfloyd.tripod.com/index-16.html }
It does not upset me when Pink Floyd fans don't believe or are not interested in the Publius Enigma. But when they call someone a "numbskull" (you know who you are ) for it, it offends me just a little bit. So here is some stuff that I hope will cause a retraction.
The following was taken from a post at an Enigma site.
"When 'Pulse' was released on cassette there was a lot of dead space at the end of the second tape. To fill it up, the Floyd (or maybe just a really bored recording engineer)
put together what I call the "Pulse environment." It runs about 22 minutes long and incorporates various sound effects, some of which you would recognize from TDB ["The Division Bell"]...but what do I hear at right about the 20 minute mark?...A SECRET MESSAGE! The last 2 minutes contain..a morse
code message being tapped out underneath a voice reading a solar weather forecast...I slowed the message down to half speed and took it to a fellow Floydian friend of mine who is into ham radios...He told me that he was able to hear two things. The first part read, "As it is said," and the second part read, "there is an enigma." Very cool indeed!"
Here's more proof: At a Pink Floyd concert in New Jersey, flashing lights for seen that clearly read "PUBLIUS." This, and the word ENIGMA, has also been seen on the widescreen behind the stage.
Also, on the "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" mini-disc, on the artwork for 'Learning to Fly' the word ENIGMA can be seen. On the same pressings, on the artwork for 'Yet Another Movie' the word PUBLIUS can be seen.
Now THAT, Madcap Diamond, is how you get to 100 posts! Have a different, maybe outlandish
opinion, people have fits, and you got to defend your stance.

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

Now you may say, "But Gilmour denied any existence of an Enigma." But, at the 1969-1975 forum (when the band was actually working together...) you don't seem to believe that the word "Ummagumma" was simply made up by the band and does not mean what many think it does. The band DENIES the word means...So what's the difference?

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

Yeah, that was pretty lame of me! haha

Anyway, I find the Publius Enigma very interesting. I thank you for bringing this to my attention. When did this evolve?(on the internet) I checked the website out and I wonder if anyone figured it out.

Also, Dave is lying about not knowing. Cuz Roger lied about the DSotR sync. I really believe that DSotR is intentional.

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

Don't worry, Madcap, Ummagumma was a word made up by the band and means nothing at all. Though some youngsters at the time made it their slang word for something indecent.
Anyway, the Publius postings started in 1994, right at the release of "The Division Bell."

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

It's actually a friend of the band's saying. His own personal profanity.

Really.

That's what it is.

I'm looking forward to when the FBI release the Zapruder footage of the Publius in Texas, though. That'll shut all those detractors up....

Madcap
Did you know if you loop the Dark Side cd it plays 2 1/2 times during Oz? With the same amazing results through out the movie! Seeing as cd's were not around in 72/73 I do not see how this could be intentional.

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

I never once believed it's intentional either. You could watch a baseball game and listen to Bob Seger and find synchronicities.
But BACK TO WHAT I WAS SAYING...

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

Do you mean that as in it doesn't work? Because it works fine on my computer. Or in that you just don't like it? That is an out-dated site, so try...

Re: TO THE DISBELIEVERS OF THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA

you all know this by now ofcourse.

David: no it had nothing to do with it, there was no connection. The second
thing [ENIGMA] was some silly record company thing that they thought up to puzzle
people with.
