Left Banke

I received a cd this Christmas called "There's gonna be a storm", a greatest hits collection from a band called the Left Banke (their big hits were Walk away Renee and Ballerina girl). The cd is a little hard to find, from what I understand, but has an interesting sound. I was wondering what people think of this band. I think they're great.

I never heard of them in my entire life, frankly.

The one song is actually titled "Pretty Ballerina".

It was one of my favorites from that era. (1966-67)
Anyone who likes progressive rock should listen to The Left Banke. They were into different scales like Mixolydian and Lydian and used violins, cellos, etc. which gave an interesting "classical" type flavor to their stuff.

I for one, would LOVE to get ahold of one of their albums.

Sorry Stratters, you're right, it's Pretty Ballerina. I had only heard the 2 hits before this cd, but they have some other really solid material. The song Dark is the Bark sounds kind of like something Rick Wright might have written at about the same time.
I guess the greatest hits album that I received is sold on ebay and the like quite a bit, but can get pricey. Amazon sells it for around 100$, but I think it can be obtained for as little as 15$ if you look around.

Yeah, Wilt, I looked on Amazon, and they want $140 for the same album you've got, which, as I understand, has everything TLB ever recorded on it. Even used on Amazon they are $80+, so I'm going to go to ebay and jump into the bidding.
