Why? I listen to the Floyd alot. Every day i listen to at least 5 of their songs (notice i said at least). I like their songs because of the images i get in my head and of the things i feel when i listen to them. When listing to songs i very rarely try to find the "meaning" of the song. Usualy what happenes is i see a story, like a movie or such, playing out in my head. I get in this trance, i tend to lose the time and space of the real world, and melt into the song its self. This is why i like the Floyd. Things come to mind like in the song "Time" in DSOTM. I get this image that is pitch black, then when the clocks go off it remains black. As soon as the first sound (i dont know if its bass or guitar) comes other than the clocks, you see eyes open. You notice it is a guy, who is in his shop, and basicly about his wasted time, his life, and him trying to escape it. "Echoes" is another example. A friend and I listened to it, and we had very similar "visions". We basicly (since i dont think any of us were listining to the lyrics) imagined a guy who had died, then traveled through hell and back, only to live again, to find that it wasnt his time. another example was Set The Controlls For The Heart of the Sun. I listened to it before i went to bed, was able to just sit there, in a trance... it was like i was hynotised, but it didnt really go away the next day eather. I was sitting in Math class with the song stuck in my head, but i caught my self staring at the ground with the song playing in my head (i was listing to the song in my head as if i was listing to it on the radio). There are others, but i would like to hear some of yours. SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BEFORE! I am currently in a hurry and did not serch for it. If it has, and you dont feel like posting then you dont have to, but if your somewhat new like me and havnt seen a thread like this, then please tell me what you like about them.

I like their production values, which combined with a highly theatrical writing style and delivery make for an irresistible combination.

Floyd are obviously one of my all time favourite bands, I just don't listen to them much (or at all really) anymore.

the vast majority of my cd's are floyd or their solo work. Ijust like the good lyrics and great guitar playing by dave! Also i like a lot of other bands but most don't fulfill me as much as floyds do!

I've been listening to Floyd since I was 13 and I have a terminal case of over-familiarity with them, I'd just rather listen to other stuff these days. I relent now and then and dig something out, maybe Animals or AHM, but not very often I must admit. Maybe when the Pulse dvd finally surfaces it'll rekindle some interest, on the other hand I've had the Pompei dvd for over twelve months and still not watched it so maybe not!
