echoes

I am making my own version of echoes. Some of the sounds are difficult to mimic however. If anyone has any info on how they achieve them i would be greatful.

I am looking for all the ambient sounds in the middle of the song. also what effects are used to generate them.

also, in the outro of the song, there is a sound as if something is assending (repeats several times) as song ends and fades out.

thanks.

The sonar 'pings' from the opening are caused by a grand piano recorded through a Leslie rotating speaker.

Those screaming "whale" noises are made by plugging the guitar's wah-wah pedal in back to front. They also used "sharp" drawbar settings on the Farfisa organ, a steel slide on the strings of a bass guitar (played through a delay pedal to make the low moaning noise), and a field recording of seagulls.

I think it's a tape loop of actual voices... not 100% sure about that, however.
