Question Tabbing out early Rick Wright Organ Solos

I have sort of rediscovered early Floyd again and am just blown away by the Organ playing of Rick Wright. The solos he takes on Emily Plays, Arnold Layne, and just about any of the early songs are mind blowing. They sound so medieval, w/arabic type flavorings to it. Here's the thing, I play guitar and I'd love to add some of that styling to my solo's the thing is I have terrible ears when it comes to picking apart solos. Could anyone help me with this? I listened to Matilda Mother and it sounds like he's using a minor scale but I can't get much further than that. Also, I gotta say that I think if I crack one I feel like I could get the others and would be happy to post them on this site in the guitar area.

Thanks, and long live Syd!

Re: Tabbing out early Rick Wright Organ Solos

let me get this straight:
You play guitar
You want to play Wright's hammond-riffs...
on your guitar...?

Hell, sounds like a challenge

I play bassguitar and, in my own humble opinion, have a good ear for notes. So I'll check out Mathilda's Mother one day and give you my opinion on the "riffs" he play.

Can't promise anything

Re: Tabbing out early Rick Wright Organ Solos

I've actually made some headway...yes, it can be done. In the Echoes Tab book there is tabs to his solos in Arnold Layne and Emily Play. How cool is that? I got the book for like $12 off of Amazon and have been studying like crazy.

If you get anywhere on Matilda Mother let me know. I'll take a crack at it again myself. If nothing else, I'll see if I can get the scale.
