Yesterday I went to my motorcycle maintenance class and as it was the last day, went for a couple of drinks with the rest of the pupils.

In conversation with one of the blokes (Rab), I ventured that I was thinking about trading in my bike for the above machine, a Honda VTR1000SP1.
Rab swiftly made the point that I would die in a hideous mangled heap (potentially during the test drive), if I was to do so and then laughed uproariously at which point some other experienced types chimed in with their views which were not disimilar to Rab's.

One gentleman opined that his face might be the last that I would see, as he cordoned off the accident scene (he's a policeman).

I texted one of my instructors to ask his opinion and he actually phoned me up to talk me out of it.

I might wait a bit.

I'm not fond of crotch rockets.

I like a good old fashioned hog.
A BMW or a Triumph.

I would love to buy a motorcycle - believe me! I've always prefered bikes over cars.

But I would need to maintain a car (even my old car) as well - you know, for groceries and for driving in sub-zero weather with 6 inches of snow on the ground.

And given my age and marital status, the insurance payments alone would kill me.

After loads of people came off of their bikes over the last week due to no fault of their own (apparently), I thought that I really better be a touch more prepared for any eventuality, so today I invested in lots of motorcycle clothing, body armour, kevlar featuring gloves, new helmet, boots, buff, digital tyre pressure guage and the like.

I am now £600 worse off but you can't particularly put a price on fixxlevylife.

Well, you could, but it'd be astronomically high.
