Over here there seems to be a great delight in 'makeover' shows. This seems to be where people buy a dilapidated property and fix it up, thereby making loads of money. However with the property prices spiraling in the UK they could have made just as much doing nothing! There is also the 'makeover woman' shows where they take some old growler and give her cosmetic surgery..and she still ends up with a face which looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp. We have 'car booty'..no my American friends this 'booty' has nothing to do with ladies bottoms! A car boot is what you in the US would term the 'trunk'. Over here we have people who clear the attic of junk and stick it in their car boot (trunk) and go stand in a field, freezing their nuts off, with many other like minded souls. The object is to sell all the junk you have in your car boot..make lots of money....and then buy more junk! We have incessant re-runs of a detective called Columbo..have you heard of him? God he is driving me daft. Quincy...a coroner who cuts up bodies but we never see a speck of blood. He seems to get into an argument on each show and then runs off to save the world. There is a programme called 'Loose Women' which unfortunately has nothing at all to do with ladies of the night. It seems to revolve round four women yakking for an hour?! God preserve us! We have the odd episode of Jerry Springer thrown in, which is usually heavily censored due to it being daytime...which means we can't understand what is going on. Could we ever? However we have our very own version which is called Jeremy Kyle. This guy is an absolute tit, and I'm only staying tuned in just in case someone give him a thumping!

other than that...I didn't do much today...

"face like a Bulldog eating a Wasp"...

Re: What Did You Do Today?

Another day of boredom here in Bonnie Scotland.

It's Sunday, and the tradition/rules over here is that on a Sunday, all males will

1) not shave
2) lie on the couch and scratch
3) watch football
4) not indulge in anything more strenuous than breaking wind.

I'm a traditional type of guy, and it was made easier to keep to the rules, by a distinct lack of female members of the household being present. Mrs E and my daughter had flown to Dublin for the weekend. Having just returned they spoke very highly of Dublin's fair city and how friendly the Irish folks were. They recommended the Guinness brewery tour!

Re: What Did You Do Today?

I know I'm good ...but not that good!

Well today, after 6 weeks, I managed to get the sling off (halle-fu*king-lujah). However my initial joy at being rid of that contraption, was short lived. I have discovered that 6 weeks of not using your arm can leave you as weak as a kitten, and I am now not able to straighten my elbow or to raise it above chest height. The physiotherapist gave me the once over and declared that I have a lot of hard work ahead to get myself back to fitness. So I have stuck on the theme from Rocky and I am setting about my exercises…Da-dada-dada dada da…….yo Aidrian

Yes..you are a member...we also had a post from Cheesey the other day after a year long absence, so it looks lke all the oldies are coming out of the woodwork.

Anyway..I digress...I'm continuing my exercise regime to nurse me back to full health. As well as the exercises provided by the physio, I am also following the 'Mr Apollo' fitness plan. I got this book in 1965 from a coupon I clipped in a DC comic, I think it was a Batman comic...can't be sure...it was on the page with the x-ray specs which said you could glimpse ladies underwear..hah! ..never worked..and they wouldn't give me my money back..swines...anyway Mr Apollo assured me I would be able to

1) kick the sand in the face of a bully......kick
2) look over walls
3) tease people
4) have the strength of two separate gorillas

...I shall keep you posted

Mr Apollo? I'm getting visions of Stars & Stripes shorts and Eye Of The Tiger and have an overwhelming compulsion to shout "GET OUTTA THERE"

Re: What Did You Do Today?

Class was cancelled and it snowed (a small amount) today
No work either, so I bummed around my apartment, looking at yellow Doc Martens and coveting them.
Also tried Miller Chill and am not impressed although it wasn't awful or anything...just not that exciting.

I'm trying to make a movie about my senior exhibition for an IT class, but keep messing around on the internet instead.

Ended up winning about $50 last night playing "Texas Hold 'em" with a bunch of business acquaintances.

Re: What Did You Do Today?

Went to work, bought more fabric and a brick of glycerine soap base (for later use), came home, and am currently trying to find a good recipe for date bread (my grandfather's annual Christmas gift arrived yesterday)

It's snowing again! My house is probably buried under snow since it always seems to snow 10 times more there than Fairmont.
