Jimmy Page's violin bow technique.

Anybody who owns a Zeppelin DVD (I have the new ones) should know that on "Dazed and Confused" he uses a violin bow. Does anybody else think that's awesome?

I believe that whole bow & guitar thing was started by Syd Barret, actually. I'm just basing this on another thread we've had here....don't take my word on it (let's wait for Botley or someone to confirm it ).

When I saw him do that at first I thought it was a joke but the more I watched him play the better I liked it.

I heard that the father of actor David McCallum, who was a session violinist, gave Page the idea.

Yeah sometimes it sounds cool but sometimes it really sucks. It's a cool idea though. I heard the guy from Sigur Ros plays with a bow too..

I love the way Page uses the bow...he has been a clear reference to my own bow playing...

Roger sometimes used a bow on his Rickenbacker bass... specifically during the end portion of "Scarecrow."
