| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Ahem...no, I believe your supposition to be inaccurate. In the 60s, particularly in the case of The Byrds and Dylan, music stars enjoyed a much more intense following - it was new, exciting and hip, and one's parents certainly didn't like it, I mean, did you SEE those Beatles! - where the majority might be aware of an artist's entire catalogue, not just their popular "standards". If you fancied the Mamas and the Papas, you would probably be aware of much more than just "Monday Monday" and "California Dreamin'" Dylan was too prolific and The Byrds, amongst others, too popular to be assumed to be flashes in the pan. The only people who might have thought they had only one or two "hits" would have been the Ronco/K-Tel brigade who dabble only out of curiosity. Unless you have a particular demographic in mind for the upsetting "people" who ascribe one-hit-wonderdom to multi-hit bands? I shouldn't think this sort of behaviour was any more, or less, prevalent than today.

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders YET ANOTHER NOTE TO ANYONE WHO WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION WHEN THEY READ MY FIRST POST ON THIS TOPIC: I'm not saying they ARE one hit wonders. I'm saying they are often typecasted by one or two songs, yet have had many other hits. Pay attention, class... ![]() |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders But I do think "one-hit-wonderism" (?) was more rampant in the '60's, maybe even moreso in the '50's. |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders NOTE TO THE TOPIC ORIGINATOR: PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, I.E., PAY ATTENTION YOURSELF. My post was in response to your, IMO inaccurate, supposition that the 60s was a time when it was easier for a band/artist to be typecast as a "one-(or two-)hit wonder, NOT that you claimed those bands/artists were such (see note above). Perhaps it's your condescending tone which gets up peoples' noses, I don't know, but having been alive during the 60s - rather than reading from history books - I think I might have a better memory of it than you. Class dismissed.

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders whoever the hell thinks dylan, queen, pink floyd and ac/dc are one hit wonders is a retarded squid fucker. ive never heard anyone say any of these things. how did you come up with the observation that these bands are seen as one hit wonders? did the voices in your head tell you?

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Although I'm laughing openly in front of people at that rather salient observation, it might be worth clarifying that what Old "Taking Heed" appears to be saying is that in many people's minds (who never bought any albums of the aforementioned multi- platinum selling artists and lived in a cupboard and may have also been, on the side, an Oscar winning star with "special" needs who appeared in "Children Of A Lesser God), they are defined by these particular single songs, as these are the most commonly heard and broadcast testaments to their talents. Not actually, that they ARE one hit wonders, but to those NOT in the know, that they APPEAR to be. It's cool- I'm still digging the left hand path, but thought it was worth clearing up. Cheers, Mark

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Thank you Fixxy. Oh and in response to BOAB's comment- Sorry- wrong number. The person you are attempting to reach is no longer available. (See, when somebody proves you wrong, or attempts an apology in PM, it's not the best thing to hear. I think I'll sterotype you as you did me. I know you're kind, whether in person or on the internet. You are quick to ridicule and when proven wrong, you respond with some immature comment while watching "Charles in Charge" and eating chicken biscuits. See, I don't know you so how can I reach this conclusion, as you claimed to know me?) ![]() |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders HERE IS A LOUD ANNOUNCEMENT: I think ALL of you are bright, clever people. You all have good, unique perspectives and prove good points--even when you prove me wrong (I'll get you BOAB, and your little dog...what, oh yeah). But PLEASE: No insults like the ones above, please? They just make you look as idiodic and immature as I do sometimes. I know I don't act like any 31 year old person would, but obviously you've never seen a Sturguess Thanksgiving dinner. _________________ STOP MAKING SENSE |
