| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders It gets me a bit upset when I see people type-casting a band or artist as having only one or two good or recognizable songs, though they've had many other great tunes. Here are some examples: Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Free Bird"/"Sweet Home Alabama" No I'm not defending them because I'm from the South. )AC/DC ("Back in Black") Molly Hatchet ("Flirtin' With Disaster") The Guess Who ("American Woman" )Deep Purple ("Smoke on the Water") Note I'm not defending DP because I look like Roger Glover Queen ("Bohemian Rhapsody"/"We Will Rock You") Sadly, Pink Floyd (ABITW 2, or "That 'We Don't Need No Education Song'") |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders I've never heard AC/DC called a one hit wonder. Hell, it's all they play on the radio up here. ![]() |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Is that the reason you have such an acerbic presence - see your sig - too much AC/DC?

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders In 1980, I was ten years old. That year I bought "Back in Black", the first album I ever owned. Then, I bought 9 more of their albums the same year, but it faded from me and I gave them to my cousin (pretended it was a boxed set). I discovered the brilliance of Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Ramones, and The Talking Heads. But still, when I hear AC/DC mentioned, the words "Back in Black" usually follow. But of course they had a lot of great stuff...though limited subject matter. But my point is, I see a lot of people typecasting AC/DC with "Back in Black." It upsets me because they are a classic rock band. Like a lot of others I mentioned (forgot one on my list: The Who "My Generation". (This angers me more than the AC/DC case). |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Are you smokin crack? None of those bands are one hit wonders. Whoever would call Deep Purple or Queen or any of those such obviously has shit for brains. Strawberry Alarm Clock would be a one hit wonder. AC/DC? Gimme a break, mate.....

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders ...All of those bands had a string of platinum or multi-platinum albums (even the incredibly shitty Molly Hatchet). Besides all of the bands you mention are album-rock bands, not some lame pop acts.

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders A Perfect Lusk, obviously you weren't paying attention when you read my first post on the topic. I said these bands are often typecasted by one song but have had several other good tunes. Pay attention. |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders The Who? How about 'Pinball Wizard'? That seems to me to be their most famous song. |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Okay, three songs. "My Generation," "Pinball Wizard", "Won't Get Fooled Again." Okay seventy songs...oh, alright, one hundred thirty-eight... |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Actually, you listed two songs for some bands. Don't get all worked up, I'm just saying don't pay any attention to morons that think this way. If you are a fan of Deep Purple, you know "Smoke On The Water" is hardly their best work. I'm not picking on you, I just don't know why you'd even give thought to something so silly. You're definitely way ahead of people who think this way about music, so why even consider the opinion of such ignorants? BTW, You look like Roger Glover? I feel bad for you.

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Don't worry A Perfect Lusk, I don't believe it, as I clearly said it upsets me in my first post on the topic. And "Smoke on the Water" does sound like a garage band song. (PS I do look like Roger Glover  ) |

| Re: One-Hit-Wonders Who Aren't Really One-Hit-Wonders Here are some more: The Byrds ("Turn! Turn! Turn! [Book of Ecclesiastes]"/[Bob Dylan's] "Mr. Tambournine Man." The Cowsills ("Hair") But I suppose in the 60's it was a lot more easier to be typecasted for one song. |
