i hear Nirvana on classic rock station sometimes. i think we'll see it telescope to the point where a contemporary band will produce music that will automatically be considered classic rock.

I heard both Peter Gabriel and a song from Water's "Amused To Death" back to back on a classic rock station! Barely over 10 years old... Last edited by one_of_my_turns; 02-20-2005 at 11:46 PM.

There is still talent out there, you just have to look harder. It's hidden in the underground, mostly, unfortunately.

I invite all those who say there is no talent in rap to do a freestyle for 20 minutes in front of a crowd. I don't like rap much but I certainly don't think it's talentless either. What's going to happen to music? Nothing! Music has always been music. All this change in what "hot" what's "cool" and what's "new" has still not stopped me from enjoying Beethoven or a Strauß. It hasn't stopped me from enjoying Coltrane and Jaco Pastouris. It hasn't stopped me from enjoying Pink Floyd, the Doors, U2 and Scorpions. It hasn't stopped me from enjoying Radiohead and Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater. And it certainly won't stop me from enjoying new and upcoming bands. If Floyd and Led Zep are your thing, please go right ahead and listen to them and enjoy. I for one don't want every bloody band to sound like Floyd and Zep - I'd probably kill myself from the sheer monotony and boredom were such a thing to happen. The reason most people hate the crap on the radio is because it's regurgitated SO much and everything sounds SO similar that it becomes painful after a while. I bet 1000 bucks that the same would happen if all the radio ever played was Floyd, Zep and the Who. Variety is indeed the spice of life. It is also what keeps us sane.

There is no future for music. In a few years, a massive energy and radiation burst from an exploding super magnetic neutron star will hit us and incinerate all life forms on earth.
