Sorry matey, but the World could do with more principled, deeply individual, quick minded fellows the calbre of Ali.

On this particular subject, you actually don't know what you're talking about.

Cheers,

Mark

More than once, I imagine, being neither omnipotant (It doesn't mean THAT, Eug'axe) or infallible. However, this time, I know my apples.

In many cases, yes. But he gave away a lot of his money to The Nation Of Islam and was an inspiration to Black America in his day.

Re: Lord of The Rings

That's fair enough.

I tell you what though, American wrestling sucks.

It's a true story.

It's pretty damn funny. I hope no one thinks it's real. I watch it for a laugh.

concerning fixxlevy: well good for you. i'm glad you admire Ali so much. hopefully it will be an enjoyable for you (not being sarcastic, seriously). as for me i'll be sure to miss it. my stance remains the same on any athlete but that is just my opinion.

Re: Lord of The Rings

i dont understand how talented althletes are are stupid and worthless but old men with big beards playing knights that were made up by some bored guy with a half assed imagination is some spectacular thing to watch. true story based interpretation are always good. how many more films are gonna have people with torn up clothes and a bunch of make up portraying someone way in the past of stone henge or something ex: Gladiator, Lord Of The Rings.

its 2002 now, dammit. make movies that relate to this day and age! ex: CastAway, A Beautiful Mind

Re: Lord of The Rings

I'm disapointed, not surprised though, putting 400 pages into 3 hours is a no go, the film is just a short versin of all the action. No depths to the chrarcters, nor to the relationships between them. And to make things worst, the movie sticks to the storyline up until the scene where gandalf tells frodo about the ring (which is no more than 20 minuts into the movie), the rest is a twisted version (Arwen saves frodo and casts a spell on the river at rivendell?!). As to the special effects and scenary, well Tolkien portraid everything so perfectly that it didn't impress me at all.

If you ask me they should have made a long mini series out of it, maybe 20 episodes of 1.5 hours each, then maybe, maybe it would have done the book justice.

BTW, I think "sorrow" would fit perfectly in the third part's soundtrack. I can find many scenes to put it in, but one would be perfect, when frodo leans on the cleft and watches sauron's army crossing the bridge heading for the last battle against middle earth. Thinking all he's doing is useless beacuse by the time he destroyd the ring, sauron's army would have swept through middle earth and killed and destoryd all he had ever loved. Overwhelmed with grief he starts to cry... I can just hear "sorrow" playing in the background... what do you think?

Re: Lord of The Rings

Comfortably Numb...I couldn't agree more about "Sorrow". In fact now that you mention it, quite a few songs from AMLOR and DB would go well with Lord Of The Rings. Signs of Life, Terminal Frost, Marooned, A Great Day For Freedom. Maybe I'm getting a little carried away...but the Floyd and Lord of The Rings are both rather emotional journeys so it's hardly surprising that they kinda go together.

As for our friend who claims Tolkien was some bored guy with a half arsed imagination...you propose 'Castaway' as an alternative?? I rest my case in favour of the rings.
