Re: Comfortably Numb

lol, if you went around posting that link for everyone who asks technical questions about Gilmour's stuff, half the threads on here would be gone

Re: Comfortably Numb

I'm interested in the answer to this question too but I go to gilmourish.com and he lists 25 effects. Let's same I'm totally new to effects and on a modest budget, (both of which happen to be true) what would be one first purchase in the right direction. If there was one thing on the list that was a good start what would it be?

Re: Comfortably Numb

I'm still not sure about the sound on Comfortably Numb solo.... The first one is of course with the bridge/neck combination(that's why it's particular sound) but the second... it's the Big Muff, and then could it be that in one way it goes to the Phase 90 and to the hiwatt and on another way(david tend to split the signals to different amps) to a leslie??? because the exact sound is really unique....

What I'm trying o say is:

Guitar-----Dynacomp---Big Muff-------Phase 90----Hiwatt
l
l
l
Yamaha Leslie

Re: Comfortably Numb

The way to get the sound close for live use is to use
reverb,
delay,
A rotating cabinet effect
a Univibe effect
A big Muff and a tone booster set to overdrive
Compressor

Forget the neck and bridge setting on David's strat because he has said himself he has never used that switch ever!
Best way to do it o is to play the first solo on the neck pickup and change to the bridge for the second solo

I use multi effects now, and the Korg AX3000 is quite specific about which fx it emulates so it's quite easy to get the same tone
Gilmour never uses the same tone live as in the studio anyway.
