Re: The Academy Awards

i'm glad Marion Cotillard won for Best Actress for her role in LA VIE EN ROSE last nite ...

it was hardly show here in the U.S.

FWIW:all four major acting awards were won by actors from Europe...don't know if that's ever happened before...all very deserving...

Re: The Academy Awards

I watched a bit of it to see if Tommy Lee Jones would win best actor for In The Valley of Elah. He didn't.

I'm trying to get my hands on No Country For Old Men since it also features Mr. Jones as well as being awarded "Best Picture".

very true!

I'm afraid the Oscars does nothing for me, same goes for the Baftas and all the other award thingys such as Golden Globes etc. Lots of back slapping and gushing speeches thanking everyone from their third grade teacher to the car park attendant.

its been eyeing me on the video shelf for a while. I'm dissapointed "Away From Her" didn't really get anything this award season.
There Will Be Blood is gonna come out Friday (I think) what's people's opinion on that?

Re: The Academy Awards

My brother went to the Oscars this year, along with the party that Elton was at. According to him, Elton played about 12 songs (fantastic) and he chatted with Billy Joel and Simon from that American Idol thing.

I got to see a pic of him beside the giant Oscar. Quite amusing.

Re: The Academy Awards

Oddly enough, he's just a civil engineer or something along those lines, but he has a friend that is in some line of work that is connected with the Oscars, and every year he goes, so he invited my brother to go this year.
I think they run with the same volunteer fire co.
