Re: Stoned Alone

There's a song... or what have you that I got off of Audiogalaxy called "Stoned Alone". It's whacky, heavy-handed, out-there, beautiful and monstrous. In other words it's great! There is a section of this piece that contains phrases and "jams" that approach true Taoist bliss. Where was this jam recorded? Who's on it (it sounds very early)? has this turned up elsewhere? Thank you in advance to those who reply.

Re: Stoned Alone

I checked it out and it's a live version of 'Reaction in G'. False alarm.

Re: Stoned Alone

yeah i think it is an early version or later version of reaction in g. the quality on the one i have is not that good sounding but its not a bad song. it seemed heavily improvised.

Re: Stoned Alone

Well, Mudman, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the song was one of the Floyd's first recordings, at the Thomas Private Recording Company (sited in the basement of a house).

Re: Stoned Alone

It is where they made their first studio recordings (a version of Slim Harpo's "I'm A King Bee", "Lucy Leave", etc.)--though it may be true a basement isn't really a studio, but what matters is they weren't live recordings.

Re: Stoned Alone

The version of Reaction in G that was called Stoned Alone by bootleggers was recorded between Sept. 13 and Oct 13 1967. How do I know? I own copies of both thoes concerts and it's exactly the same.

Re: Stoned Alone

It's not the original Stoned Alone.
