Les Claypool covering the Animals album

Les Claypool and his band cover the entire Animals album on an album called "Live Frogs Set 2".

I'd like to know if anyone has this album and if it is worth paying the money for....another band covering that album entirely sounds pretty interesting.

If you're a fan of Les Claypool then I'd say its worth a listen. He and his band do a pretty faithful rendition of the album. On Set 1 he covers Shine On You Crazy Diamond. The whole thing used to be available for download on the Primus website. Not sure if it still is though.

Re: Les Claypool covering the Animals album

While buying a copy of Animals yesterday, the salesperson was telling me how great that music was.
I know Les Claypool and Primus do great Floyd covers.

In that case why bother? You may as well listen to the real thing.

Of course, but it's a nice tribute. If you're a fan of Les Claypool and Animals then it's a good listen.

Re: Les Claypool covering the Animals album

I had a look but it's not there anymore.

I think Animals is an interesting album to choose, though it is part of the golden era of albums it isn't their most known or successful.

Re: Les Claypool covering the Animals album

I like Primus : for their aim is to have fun....of course if it brings the cash, its a bonus...as the band members are sort of animation & cartoonist themselves i like their p.o.v.
The way Les takes on Roger Waters's vocal style on "Southbound Pachyderm" complete with helicopter fx etc.....and he admits for his respect for Pink Floyd and has been quoted that he never meant to spoof PF but really is a great admirer of Rog.

Re: Les Claypool covering the Animals album

Yup, Les Claypool has been begging ol' Reg to produce one of his albums. You got admit, Waters has no peer when he wants to create an atmosphere with sound. Always has the cleanest edits too. Makes one very jealous at times.
