A Momentary Lapse of Reason. That had to be the worst.

Re: Worst Album

A Momentary Lapse of Reason by far with the "radio friendly track" Learning to Fly...other standouts were On The Turning Away and Sorrow...but the rest is just a good forgery to quote Roger

Re: Worst Album

MLR and More are the 2 albums I find the least satisfying, but both have their good moments, e.g. Cirrus Minor, The Nile Song, Sorrow, Yet Another Movie.

Re: Worst Album

Why does everybody think The Division Bell is a horrible album? I think it is quite good.

Re: Worst Album

The Division Bell is definitely the "Gilmour era"s best work by far. You can really hear Nick Mason and Richard Wrights influence alot more than in A Momentary Lapse of Reason which was basically a Gilmour solo effort. But like Roger said "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is a " good forgery" I don't think I can listen to any other songs on that album except Sorrrow, On The Turning Away, And Learning to Fly....i just cant bear the rest...

I agree it has more of the feel of an early 70's Floyd album, than anything else after WYWH.

Re: Worst Album

I really cannot listen to AMLoR.

More is also pretty awful.

I don't think More is even worth listening to. Never have and never will.

I'm the sort of guy who finds Duchamp, John Cage, Edgar Varese etc... kind of cool. I like Ummagumma and my fave on there is The Grand Vizier's Garden Party.
Although, the weakest album is probably More but I really like some of the tunes. It was done to be in the service of a cheap hippy movie.
AMLoR and TDB are PF albums simply because the PF name is on them. They aren't as strong thematically obviously, without Waters input, but a good 70-80% of the music is quite good even by their standards. But I can really do without Coming Back To Life and Keep Talking. Also A New Machine 1 & 2.
You could junk those ones, I think.
Just for the record, the worst PF album is this delightful disco tribute:

Re: Worst Album

Ummagumma for sure for me. Can't stand the studio disc and the live one does not contain many of my favourites.
"More" would rate second worst for me. Mores songs range from tolerable to don't like. None rate as great for me.
What is it with the Division Bell and Final Cut that people rate them so low? They are not in my top three but they are not in my bottom three ranking either. Many people say they are not true Pink Floyd albums but the question is not "which are not Pink Floyd albums". As listenable albums are they really that bad? I rank those in the middle of the pack.

Re: Worst Album

Someone said Atom Heart Mother and it looks like that dude is gonzo anyway, but I felt that I still needed to present my argument in defense of the album, and this is it...

Atom Heart Mother Suite is, in my opinion, THE greatest suite of them all. The rest of the album is pretty amazing too, with songs like Summer '68, Fat Old Sun and If. I'm afraid I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your statement.

When compared to Shine On (Parts 1-9), Dogs, Echoes, and Us & Them through Eclipse, the AHM Suite stands tall and proud. I challenge anyone to say otherwise with a hearty handshake and a whole lotta prancing about.

If you haven't heard it in awhile, why not take a few minutes of your life and spend it listening to Atom Heart Mother Suite.

There are far worse things that you could be doing with your time. And while you're at it, toss in Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast for good measure.
