War Of The Worlds

I was wondering what you guys think about Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. Personally I really love it.

Re: War Of The Worlds

Anything with Richard Burton in it can't be bad. Apart from Liz Taylor.

Re: War Of The Worlds

I love it 100%. That song Forever Autumn is music to my ears and the main theme is fantastic.

I'm in a bit of confusion about that song actually. I heard that it was by a guy called Justin Hayward from a completely different album but on the sleeve notes of the tape (I can't find the CD version if there is one), Hayward is not even mentioned. What's all that about?

Kidnapped by aliens,

Re: War Of The Worlds

I'm ashamed to say I still own the original double vinyl, gatefold sleeve album with all the pages intact and everything. Of course I'd be far too embarrassed to play it as it's mostly shameful disco drivel.

Ah yes. The Martians were the stars if you ask me. With a cry like that... *shudders*

The sound effects are very good as well. The unscrewing of the lid of the missile is plain scary!

In a fighting machine,

Indeed, pity it doesn't extend to the music, very dated now I fear.

Re: War Of The Worlds

Dated, yes, but still good. I have to say that Spirit of Man sounds like Starship Trooper though!

I really must learn to read album credits properly now. I've just read the credits and this Justin guy is mentioned after all. I'm sill a bit confused about the song Forever Autumn appearing on another album though...

Re: War Of The Worlds

Haven't you taken your Prozac yet? I think your medicine passed its sell-by-date.

No it was something else but I think you'd have to include bucketloads of disco crap into that (fictional) album. Starship trooper would have to be on there definitely.

Re: War Of The Worlds

I don't need Prozac. I pride myself on being as stable as a rock.

(Suddenly whips around with a chainsaw like Eminem, laughing maniacally and starting the chainsaw...)

Yep. As steady as a mountain.

(...then switches to the axe, giving an ear-splitting bellow while charging at a straw man...)

Blood to the core,

RB
