Strangely enough I never had any difficulty in finding Monkeyboy's output in old East-Germany. I guess it was his (in)famous Billy Bragg connection which made that possible, most of you will know that Billy was seen as a die hard lefty here by the ruling communists and played loads of gigs, preferably in the mining district of Eisenhüttenstadt. This pre-wall-crumbling communist collaboration would also explain why Monkeboy's new album is obviously easier to get in Vietnam than in the US or UK. So in the end the old regimes weren't all bad, it seems.

1. Colonists
2. Where Shall We Go Next?
3. Refugees (Of Some Places)
4. Singed Politics of the Land
5. Forbidden
6. Serious Things
7. Expansion of a Preceding Subject
8. I Am With You
9. Saying Histories (On Assassinating Prostitutes)
10. Just My Suggestion
11. Intrigued with the Pink
12. Sojourn in Necessity T of the School

So we finally get a full album version of "Expansion of a Preceding Subject". Good. It has always been beyond me why he used it as an intro during his "Earnest Sunbeam" tour and never dished out an official release. It's hot stuff.

By the way, has anyone noticed the similarity between the "Expansion of a Preceding Subject" riff (heard at 2:07) and the riff at the end of "Downtown Priest" (at 3:23)?

One is C-F-G-A, the other E-G-A-B (same chords a tone higher, except for the first chord) and the rhythm is the same.

Just after this riff, he starts singing "Fermez le chat" (French for "close the cat"), as in "No-one's Insane". That's two early songs quoted in just a few seconds.

Has anyone else noticed that ? Would you agree with my interpretation ?

Seriously, what the hell are you on about?

That refrain has been going around my head since I first downloaded the advance promo in January. I have been trying to find where it came from, I can't believe it.

You're telling me! I downloaded an mp3 of Martin Bashir Licked My Head from the new single from a newsgroup I belong to last night. It's great. Kinda like Ministry meets John Denver and does acid in Phil Collins' back yard. I'll put it up on yousendit if you like. I've got the live in Sarajevo Nutfilled Turd too, if you want.

Yeah, heard that too. Sounds promising. And good to hear that Claude is back on the scene after those problems he had in Italy and elsewhere.
